North Texas Shoe Box Swap -- Friendly Tea Card

I was on the waiting list for the North Texas Shoe Box Swap, sponsored by Splitcoast Stampers, for weeks.  I was so excited to finally get on the active list!  Yipee!  this is my card -- it holds a Constant Comfort Tea Bag -- I hope everyone likes it!

 

I used Bazzill Burlap Textured Card Stock, Basic Grey Porcelain Hampton Patterned Paper, Papertrey Ink Kraft and Vintage Cream Card Stocks and buttons, Copic Markers (R21, R20, RV10, 0), Cuttle Bug Embossing Envelops, Spellbinders Nestibilities and some gorgeous cranberry colored lace I picked up at Gotta Scrap!

National Scrapbook Day @ Gotta Scrap

I spent most of my National Scrapbook Day (the sacred holiday of holidays ;-) weekend at a wonderful local scrapbook store -- Gotta Scrap in Rockwall, Texas.  On Friday nite, I was able to take a Ten Seconds Studio Metal Class from one of the store owners -- a great teacher by the way.  On Saturday I spent most of the day teaching my "Basics and Beyond" Copic Marker Workshop.  We had a great time -- everyone in the class was so eager to learn about marker techniques and Copic products.  We created a full swatch book -- tested inks and papers and practiced many techniques!  This is a small sample of some our work....

 

I am very proud of the project I made in the Ten Seconds Studio Class -- we covered a cigar box -- I made this for my honey and he loved it -- I am now offically hooked -- I love working with metal -- it is amazing what you can do with it and it is soooo much fun ;-)

 

Happy Mother's Day

My Mother's Day was wonderful -- I hope yours was too!  It is always a good day when your grown kids show up at your door with flowers and gifts ;-)  The best gift of course is that they are just there.  This is my precious family -- my boys and duaghter-in-law and their pups (my much loved "grand-dogs")....

I made this dress for my daughter's first Easter 23 years ago and here is her daughter wearing it!  Who would have ever thought -- life truly is a cricle that goes round and round!

 

I was so lucky to recenty spend a weekend with my Scrap Sistas!  I was able to work together with one of my girlfriends on Mother's Days Cards and bookmarkers to match -- the Thank You card I created for the Inasmuch volunteers inspired our Mother's Day cards.  We used Papertrey Ink's Quilt Sampler Stamp Set yet again ;-)

 

Inasmuch Thank You Quilt Card

The gracious folks who volunteered their time to make 100 cards and write to soldiers in two units in Iraq desire a big "Thank You!"  I created this patriotic quilt card as a thank you to everyone who helped.  I used Papertrey Ink's Quilt Sampler Stamp Set -- I definatley use this stamp set more than any other! 

Cards for Soldiers

On April 25th about 25 great guys and gals got together to make100 cards and wrap 100 packs of gum for soldiers serving in Iraq as part of a day of service called Inasmuch, which was coordinated by two local congregations.  About 750 folks went into our community to help individuals, shelters, and schools in any way they could.  The group I coordinated made cards and wrote letters for soldiers.  The military is very close to my heart because my husband is an Army Chaplain who retired a few years ago after 21 years of service.

Tote-ally Girlfriend !!

I am soooooooooo behind with my posts because I have been soooooooooo busy -- no excuse, I know, but I am gonna go ahead and publish all the posts I have saved over the last  month or so.  

My Favorite Things has been very busy lately too -- they have come out with soooooooooo many great sets!  I just love the Tote-ally Fantastic Stamp Set that I used to create this paper-pieced card.  I also used my two favorites -- Copic Markers (of course ;-) and Spellbinder Nestibilities!  Who doesn't love a new handbag and teeny tiny dogs!!

Sketch Book

Tonight I am sharing my sketch book cover with you.  I purchased a spiral notebook at the Container Store that contains gird paper.  I use it to sketch my projects and record what supplies I use -- I am sooooo forgetful -- this tool is becoming real handy ;-)   I used 2008 Release Inky Antics stamps, Die Cuts with a View Glitter paper, Copic Makers, Prima Flowers, Spellbinders Nestibilities, medium white brads and clear Stickles glitter (which I applied to the brads).

If you do not have a sketch or swatch book -- start one today!  It can be your secret place to be creative and daring -- to doodle, experiment, and record inspiration.

"You are the Potter" Card

I designed this card for the first meeting of a new group of Faithbookers meeting at my Church -- we made 30 of these which will be sent to soldiers deployed around the world. The pottery image nad sentatment was stamped with Our Daily Bread's "You are the Potter" stamp set. It is such a beautiful stamp set!  I used papers from Papertrey Ink, Stampin Up, Me & My Big Ideas, and Sandylion.  The Copic colors I used include BG10, BG72, E04, E55, E57, RV10, C1, and the Colorless Blender.  Love my Copics and love these colors!

Forever Friend

Tonight I am posting a layout that I did as a monochromatic challenge at a weekend get-a-way.  The photographic subject is my Grand Dog.  He is the sweetest little Boston Terrier who is lucky enough to live with my son.  His name is "Evil Tyrannical Dictator of the World" -- needless to say, I call him "Tator."  He is very dear to my heart!
